Two Aceh Travelers Shot To Death

TEMPO Interactive, Banda Aceh:An unidentified man carrying a long-barreled
firearm released a number of shots at the car carrying Sukri Abdullah, Cut Yeti and M Yasir, near Paya Rangkuloh village, Kuta Blang district, Bireuen province, Aceh, killing Sukri and Yeti, Lhokseumawe residents. "It happened around 23.50 pm at night," Head of Aceh Police Public Relations, Sr Commissioner Gustav
Leo, told reporters in Banda Aceh, yesterday (May 16).
Yasir, a high school student from Pidie Jaya, who was wounded in the shooting is now being treated at Dr Fauziah Hospital.
The shooting took place as Honda CRV with the license plate no. BK 808 JA carrying the victims was heading towards Lhokseumawe from Banda Aceh. At one point on the road, a Toyota Avanza out of the blue chased the Honda and one of the passengers in the car fired a round a the victims' vehicle. From the bullet casings collected around the crime scene, the police assumed that the shooter used a rifle. "An AK type," Gustav guessed.
The shooters are also expected to have tailed the victims. The police has no lead yet as regards the the shooters' identities and the case is being investigated and witnesses questioned.
